I really enjoy all 11th st. has to offer and was thrilled to stop in and see Patrick's Pet Care in this location. I know Patrick's Pet care very well from past experience and am so happy there is now a high quality boarding option!

My puppy loves coming here! She sprints down the street and straight to the door during our morning walks to daycare. Everyone who works at Patrick's is wonderful. My schedule during the summer has been a bit unpredictable, and their team has been very flexible and accommodating. I also love the daily update emails they send; very cute!

DO NOT USE THIS SERVICE. I learned after the fact that the owner has intimidated previous customers in threatening them legal action and writing crazy emails that people are afraid to write their bad experiences.Basically the story is they put my dog back into the crate after she had been crated for 12 hours (I had to leave town suddenly) and instead of leaving her out in the gated section because their dog walker was too lazy to read the instructions. This was his response: 7/26/17 4:33pmThe morning caretaker, works from 7am-2pm, and I'd be happy to verify the exact time first thing in the morning tomorrow when he is next at work. We apologize once again for this error.I wait almost the entire day to email 7/27/17 7:28pm Patrick,I'm getting a little concerned. The sole reason I picked your service was due to the 5 star reviews on Yelp.I've been waiting for you to respond about what time my dog was let out but I haven't heard back from you yet. There are cameras in the lobby of my building so I can ask the property manager tomorrow but I'd rather not go through all that trouble. I hope to hear from you soon. Thanks,AmandaThis is the craziest response I've ever gotten in my entire life: Email at 7/27/17 8:43pmHi Amanda,I am sorry you haven't been satisfied with the services that you've received from Patrick's Pet Care. I really am.However, the passive aggressive intonation of your latest email is entirely unnecessary. And the underlying implication that you are going to write something nasty about this company on the internet if you don't receive my reply with sufficient urgency that satisfies whatever unknown timetable you may have for considering it "fast enough" is even more unnecessary -- and it's not something I'm prepared to deal with. ***(I have to mention that he set the expectation of getting back to me the next morning)***We have shown up to take care of your wonderful dog Miko on time, in a professional and thoughtful manner for the past two days. On one of those days and on one of those visits a new staff member in training made a simple and incredibly minor mistake as any single human being on this planet is capable of making, including you or me. Instead of leaving Miko in the hallway, he returned Miko to the crate. That incredibly minor mistake (which resulted in your dog staying in its crate for a few additional minutes after already having been it for the preceding 9 hours) was not reckless, was not negligent, and did not put your wonderful Miko or your home at risk in any way whatsoever, and it was corrected in about 60 minutes. Whether it was actually 50 minutes or actually 70 minutes - I truly don't know. What I do know is that I have people and animals who really depend on me each day, some of them with real emergencies and I'm not going to be blackmailed by the threat of a Yelp review ***(Huh?)*** because I didn't answer a non urgent email for a non urgent issue in a timeline that comports with your worldview. I am sorry about that. But if you want to continue to make an issue of 20 minutes and take up your time soliciting camera records to find out where in the 20 minute window the minor issue was corrected that's entirely up to you. But I think you'd be better served if you used the time to find a new dog walking company.I'll make sure your Pet Check account is closed first thing in the morning and we'll make sure to have your key returned to the front desk of your building by close of business (5pm) tomorrow. I'll also wave all the charges for the two visits this week so that you actually haven't paid for any services-- you'll get them for free. Hopefully that will be enough to put this matter behind us so that we can consider it closed and resolved. If, however, you want to persist in prolonging the matter, I would have to refer you to my attorney, Christian Fernandez, who is copied on this message and authorized to resolve this matter on the company's behalf.Thank you once again for sharing Miko with us. I am sincerely sorry and wish you the best.Patrick

This is the only place I will leave my dog. The service and attention are exceptional. Patrick's provides individualized, personalized care and cheerfully accommodates special requests and needs. I'm a physician and used to leave my dog with her vet until I found Patrick's. Would not go anywhere else. Recommend highly.

I am so happy to have found Patrick's Pet Care! I've boarded my two cats with them on several occasions when I've been out of town. For the area, their prices are very competitive, especially with the generous second pet discount. The cat boarding area is located in the basement of Patrick's house (at least, i think it's his house- someone lives there and can check on them at all hours/is available at all times), and is spacious enough to allow the cats to roam around during business hours so they are not stuck in a cage. There are plenty of toys, scratch posts, and people to give them love. The staff is very friendly, helpful, and available, and they send email updates which I love to get while traveling 🙂 Their pet taxi service is also a huge blessing! Thanks Patrick's Pet Care!

I love this place, and so does my pup! He drags me in there in the mornings! The people are amazing and truly caring, and it’s designed so that it’s never overcrowded and all dogs can be supervised (there are no additional rooms or nooks/crannies.

I love Patrick's Day Care! I bring my doggo there intermittently because I usually telework; Astrid LOVES coming! Whenever she realizes we're headed to Patrick's she gets really excited and cannot wait to get inside. The staff know her by name, despite the fact she only comes a few times a month, and they are so very friendly and patient with the pups. Really glad I found this place in my neighborhood!

I attended the walking class with my pup Ozzy and it was extremely informative. Within hours I had made improvements in how to walk him and where to be positioned when walking by other dogs. Aside from the wonderful class, Patrick's Pet Care is a great place for pets as we use the Columbia Heights location when we need day care. The webcam helps us feel like our little guy is safe as well as having fun. I would definitely reccomend the walking class to anyone with a dog that has a difficulty on leash and I definitely recommend Patrick's for boarding.

My puppy, Stella, and I came to DC for a month and Patrick's was able to accommodate her at their Columbia Heights center. She went to daycare Monday through Friday and loved it! I would watch the puppy cam on my lunch break and could tell she was so happy playing with all her new friends. She was able to get all her energy out so my evenings were nice and relaxing with her. The email updates about her day were awesome because I could forward them to my husband who was back home. I opted for transportation which was perfect since I didn't have car while I was in town. Everyone was been wonderful with her and they have gone above and beyond for our stay (they even let us borrow a crate until we could buy our own).

Patrick recently started offering grooming services and I'm so glad! I showed him a picture of what I wanted and he was able to give my 10 lb. Shih Tzu that perfect "not too long, not too short" cut. With my dog being a separation anxiety-prone rescue, I get nervous about leaving her in new places, but she was immediately comfortable with Patrick and his team and was in great spirits when I picked her up. I will definitely be returning!

Patrick gave my tiny Finn her first haircut, and I didn't know what to except. She is some mix of Pomeranian/Schipperke/Spitz dog from the streets, and about as crazy as she is cute. So I left Patrick a note that i didn't want anything too extreme, but she definitely needed some trimming, especially in the personal hygiene area. I watched the whole thing, which quelled my concerns about how she would take it, and also my concerns about how she would be treated. She must have sensed that Patrick knew what he was doing, because she was as calm as I've ever seen her. She looked great, and she is just about to go in for her second spa day. Both of us are feeling much less stressed!

Patrick's has been a major part of my dog's life for the past year and a half! He started going when he was a puppy, and his attendance greatly helped with potty training, socialization, and basic tricks (sit, come). Now that he's full grown, he loves going to daycare and being boarded with Patrick's when I need to leave town. On the human end, I love getting reports, watching the doggy cam, and knowing I am supporting a small local business that pays a living wage. Highly recommend Patrick's!

My dog has been going to doggy day care here a couple of times a week for about 4 months now. It's fun to watch her on the cameras playing with other dogs. The staff seem attentive to the dogs and maintaining a clean and safe environment. Love that my pup gets a walk with no extra charge as well so I know she isn't forced to hold it all day! Would highly recommend. The report cards are cute too.

Patrick's Pet Care is wonderful! I currently use their dog walking service for my mini dachshund Tilly , and have used their Columbia Heights daycare in the past. I did a lot of research to find a dog care service that would treat my dog as their own, and it paid off, because it led me to Patrick's. The management and all of the staff truly care about the pups they serve, and I always feel safe leaving Tilly in their care. Shoutout to Ashley K., our absolute favorite dogwalker! My dog is delighted to meet her every day, and I am equally delighted to receive Ashley's in-depth walk report cards with photos while I'm at work. Also, the staff were very responsive and flexible to work with during the stay-at-home order, when, as a nurse, I was required to be at the hospital.

Patrick's is amazing. We have a puppy who can be anxious at times and Patrick's is wonderful for him. It's not just a day care like many where dogs run around randomly - it's structured and each dog gets individual attention. Seriously, it's worth doing Patrick's over something else, even if Patrick's is a couple extra dollars. We had Patrick's recommended as the best in DC, and it definitely did not disappoint...

We love having Patrick’s Pet Care in the neighborhood – and our pup loves it, too. Our dog was a bit shy and uneasy around some of the other dogs when she first started attending daycare. Now she can’t wait to go and pulls towards the building whenever we’re out on a walk nearby. Emma and Nikita are wonderful with the dogs and have a done a tremendous job building our pup’s confidence through play, structured activities, and one-on-one time. It turns out our dog really likes puzzles, and they are always creating new challenges for her. We highly recommend Patrick’s Pet Care Dog Montessori – and added bonus that you can watch your pup play on the webcams!

TLDR: Take your doggo to Patrick's Pet Care! They have skilled trainers that use positive reinforcement to help your dog feel confident and secure. My doggo, Benji, is a lot more independent and happier these days---and it makes my life easier too!I had recently unexpectedly adopted my foster dog, Benji (foster fail!) back in October and had no idea of his history. All I knew was that he was a silky terrier mix stray with a high-energy personality. I was a bit overwhelmed to say the least. I took Benji to the Brookland location for a spa day and after that positive experience, Patrick recommended Benji as an ideal Day Care 101 candidate. So in late October I started taking Benji to Daycare once a week to work with Joe.And oh my goodness, his progress! In these last few months I've seen my Benji go from being a hyperactive, anxious, always following me EVERYWHERE doggo to a more independent, self-monitored, energetic one. He had started with some severe separation anxiety where I couldn't even be in the kitchen without him being glued to my foot, even less leave him by himself without destroying everything around him or crying for 2hrs straight. Not even a stuffed Kong would keep him occupied. Now, Benji is perfectly content and relaxed hanging out on the couch while I'm cooking. He can be left alone in the living with a Kong and some toys and manage. He even goes off into my room by himself! That's not to say that EVERY instance is perfect, it all depends on his mood, but Benji has tools and confidence to work through it when he's alone.By far one of my favorite things about Daycare are the report cards. Whether a video or a detailed message, I always look forward to Joe's summary of the day that includes pics of his dog friends and behavior notes, and activities. The doggos play Find It! games and puzzles, and practice crate training techniques to work through the separation anxiety. Benji still has a ways to go, but he wouldn't be where he is without Joe's patience, persistence, and compassion. Everyone I’ve worked with at PPC has been beyond friendly and truly invested in your dog’s well-being.I look forward to more progress! I'll update once Benji has graduated from Daycare 101 :DBONUS NOTE: Benji is WIPED after daycare, so it's a great opportunity for me to train him in nail-clipping. He's a lot less resistant! A good bath and brushing helps relax him and that's when I can clip a few at a time. SO HELPFUL.

I already recommend Patrick's to everyone I encounter on my walks so making it more official here.Emma Teller first did an amazing job training and guiding my cautious puppy through the newly created Dog Daycare 101. Then in the regular daycare Emma continues training all the attendees. She does the most to make sure the dogs are playing in appropriate energy level play groups, learning new things, and getting constant attention. The end of day report cards are lovely. Getting a video of my puppy walking up stairs, and activity she had completely refused to do, was the highlight of my week!We do grooming at Patrick's as well and they do a great job while still keeping my puppy so excited to attend.

I can't say enough good things about Patrick's. The care and attention our puppy (Jessi) has received is beyond what was expected. Emma, specifically, looks after our pup at doggy day care - she provides the love, care and support as if our pup was her own. Jessi is always over the moon when we arrive to Patrick's and sees Emma.

It’s a great place for your little pup! Our dog has the best time there playing and learning. As others have said, they don’t just leave your dog in a room for the day. There are structured activities, puzzles, group play, nap time, and individual walk/potty breaks. The staff is also wonderful. Emma is great with the dogs and very responsive to the owners. Our pup suffers from a little separation anxiety, so we made a request for him to not be left alone during down time, so Emma keeps him nearby during those periods. She also gives us reports on how he handled any necessary time alone. It’s so nice having someone who really cares!

Patrick's Pet Care is 5 star! After researching various doggy daycare options, I decided to give Patrick's a try. It is one of the best decisions I've made for my 11 month old Frenchie! My pup is a very "spirited" dog who goes from 0 to 100 in an instant, and never meets a stranger. Emma has done a great job helping her to focus, learn how to regulate her excitement level, and learn how to play at appropriate levels. I love that Emma teaches her new things and has helped her meet her goals in such a short amount of time. Although I pass several doggy daycares on my way to Patrick's in Columbia Heights, I wouldn't take my dog anywhere else!

We took our dog here for a much=needed grooming after a year with only home trims, which did not go very well. Patrick's did an amazing job. The process is thorough and was clearly described to us, the staff is great, and we felt like our little guy was in good hands. We're definitely taking him back and also will probably work with their training services. Can't say enough good things about Patrick's

I wholeheartedly recommend Patrick's Pet Care!! Hands down, Patrick's Pet Care is one of the best doggy daycares in DC.My dog has slight anxiety around larger dogs and would prefer to spend all day cuddling with humans, which doesn't make for a great time at most of the other daycares in DC. Patrick's Pet Care not only has a location specifically for smaller dogs but their enrichment activities are a sure fire way to make sure your pup comes home happy and exhausted. The entire team at Patrick's Pet Care is great, but Emma is by far the best. Emma takes great care of my dog and makes the best report card videos that I look forward to watching every single time.I'm so happy that I found Patrick's Pet Care!

Baloo just completed Patrick's Puppy Head Start Part One and Part Two with Nikita, and I can't say enough good things about it. The first day I dropped him off, he was shaking and clinging to me. The second time, and every time after that, he ran right in. He clearly loves going and absolutely adores Nikita.I don't know what we would have done without them, we were very overwhelmed when we enrolled Baloo in their program. It really gave us a structured plan to work on with him, and it's been amazing to see him improve from week to week. Nikita is a puppy whisperer. She helped us with every problematic behavior he had, and he's grown into a really good boy. There are still a few things we need to work on with him, so I won't say we've 100% solved everything....but he is miles ahead of most other dogs his age that I meet. He's polite, he comes when he's called (even in distracted environment ). He's good about checking in. He also has all his important commands down. They introduced it during Head Start, and we reinforced it at home. I find that with new commands, the hardest part is getting it to click, which Patrick's does amazingly. Concepts that take me multiple days to teach the puppy, Nikita manages to do in a few short hours. They've helped him become socialized to grooming, weird noises and different surfaces, all important in a city! He's also learned excellent play behavior with other dogs. Nikita does such a great job of monitoring the puppies and reinforcing positive, healthy behavior.I also loved the photos and report cards at the end of the day, so did Baloo. When Baloo hears Nikita's voice, he drops whatever he's doing to come over and look for her.Overall, such a positive experience. I find that you really get out of the program what you put into it! The more you work with the puppy out of hours and reach out to the instructors for help, the more progress you see. Highly recommend it!

I don’t have enough good to say about Patrick’s Pet Care. Our small dog loves everyone there—human and dog—and the staff engage warmly, playfully, and attentively with her and all of the dogs. Our dog has been through the Day Care 101 program and now regularly attends Doggie Montessori School; she also goes to Patrick’s for grooming and some additional training. I can’t imagine sending our dog anywhere else—Patrick’s is just wonderful.

I've been sending my pup Georgia to Patrick's Pet Care Montessori School for two months now, and she is making great progress! Georgia's social skills definitely needed some improvement, and Emma (aka the Dog Whisperer of Columbia Heights!) has been amazing with her, helping her gain confidence and teaching her to play well with the other dogs. Georgia isn't even sad when I drop her off in the mornings any more - she runs right in to say hi to Emma and her new four-legged friends. Highly recommend!

I cannot begin to sing the praises of Patrick's loudly enough. I brought my 7 month old puppy, Emet, who is a Soft Coated Wheaten Terrier, to see them today for his first ever grooming appointment. They were so communicative during the appointment, including me in Zoom calls throughout the day and letting me know how he did on breaks. It was obvious from the video chats that they put a lot of effort into getting him comfortable and gaining his trust. He's already an outgoing little guy, but they were so patient with him and it showed in how happy he was in the videos. Their report card was incredibly thorough and really let me know how things went, and included bonus videos of him getting trimmed as well as photos of the process. It's clear that they really love dogs and love what they do. He came out looking great, and they laid the foundation for many more happy grooming appointments to come.

Posy absolutely loves Mini Mondays at Patrick's. As soon as we get anywhere near the building, she starts whining with excitement, and once through the front door, she doesn't look back at me once. Ian and Emma are such wonderful trainers with her and I can tell she's getting a ton of enrichment playing with other dogs and doing activities all day. I've already noticed a huge improvement in her sharing abilities and recall and can't recommend the Mini Mondays Montessori program highly enough for small dogs! It is the highlight of her week and I love seeing her so excited.

We are so happy with the service and attention that our Shih Tzu/Mini Poodle mix Rocco has been receiving that if I could give Patrick's 6 stars I would. Their attention to detail and general concern for every dog in their care is amazing from Ian with Mini Dog Mondays to Emma with small dog Montessori. Their reports are frankly more informative than anything I ever received for my kids and given our dog's separation anxiety, knowing exactly how Rocco is doing is very helpful. In addition, the webcams give us the option to check on Rocco throughout the day. Great organization.
