At Wittle Wags Wednesdays,  your pup will receive a day filled with enrichment, including physical exercise, mental stimulation, outdoor walks, and more.

Tiny dogs need enrichment too. That’s why we created Mini Dog Days!

Many facilities don’t accept small dogs under 11 lbs, but at Patrick’s Pet Care, we’re equipped to accommodate dogs of all sizes.

Every Wednesday (Wittle Wags Wednesdays!) from 8am-7pm, we transform our Columbia Heights location into a safe space for small adult dogs under 11 lbs to receive the same enrichment experience we provide at our Dog Montessori School. Your little buddy will receive a day filled with physical exercise, mental stimulation, and more.

Cost: $85 per day

We have been taking our dog Fuller to Patrick's Pet Care for years (so long, I don't know why it has taken this long to write a review). We cannot say enough good things about Patrick's and the quality of service they provide for your pets. Our dog is fearful about many situations outside of the house, but he can't WAIT to go to Patrick's every week. As soon as we're within a few blocks, he starts whistling with excitement. The whole team is amazing, and Fuller has worked with many of them over the years (he has known Joe as long as he as known us, and we've been told he can sense the minute Joe walks into the building and goes crazy to see Joe). We completed adult basic obedience with our ~1 year old new rescue and really enjoyed it. We loved deepening our bond with our new dog, learned so much about how to train him, and had a great time every Saturday making progress as a class. Ian is beloved by dogs and really great at explaining and then demonstrating concepts for the humans, and each group class also includes practice time and time for him to roam to check on 1:1 progress. Classes are small (ours happened to be just 4 dogs over the summer), which allows more opportunities to ask questions. Our dogs first grooming session since being adopted was also at Patrick's and they did a great job with his cut, and sent a detailed report card after which went a huge way in making this nervous new dog owner feel calmer.

My dog Homer and I trained with Nikita and had a positive experience. He is reactive and lunges and barks at other people and especially other dogs. Nikita's patience, guidance and advice helped greatly with getting Homer to calm down and leave a triggering situation. He rarely pulls on his leash anymore during walks! though he is very curious seeing other people or dogs and that's when he will react, but getting him to walk away from the situation is going good. I hope to continue working with support from PPC and help Homer with his fear and overexcitement and learn to socialize and play with other pups. We thank you greatly

We did training with Patrick’s Pet Care. We specifically worked with Joe. And OMG what a difference we’ve seen in our reactive pup in just five lessons. We had worked with other trainers in the past (not at PPC), but Joe is far and beyond more qualified and knowledgeable than any others. We never felt rushed, we never felt pressured, we never felt ashamed… and we had a good time! Our pup got so excited every time Joe came to work with us! My partner and I now feel confident that we have the tools to help our dog continue to improve. I HIGHLY recommend working with the training team at Patrick’s Pet Care. I’m sure we’ll be doing more classes with them in the future!

Our purely positive, force free, and science-based program is founded on the education of animal behavior luminaries such as Karen Pryor, Victoria Stilwell, Pat Miller, Patricia McConnell, Ian Dubnar, and Prasorp Tipprasert, as well as the research of world class institutions including the Duke University Canine Cognition Center, The Royal Dick School of Veterinary Studies at the University of Edinburgh, and the Mandalao Elephant Conservation. Instructors are independently certified professional dog trainers and specialize in puppy socialization.

About Patrick

Patrick founded Patrick's Pet Care in March 2012 as a dog walking company in the Columbia Heights neighborhood of Washington, DC. His values for operating a pet care business are based on a genuine love of animals, a commitment to do the right thing, and a personal approach to meeting the needs of all the animals and people who depend on Patrick's Pet Care. A core pillar of this philosophy is a firm belief in corporate social responsibility standards. Patrick believes all employees deserve to be paid a District of Columbia living wage, receive health insurance coverage, and paid time off in order to provide the best care to our clients. Fundamentally, Patrick aims to create thriving relationships between people and their canine companions, using science and consent based methods without fear, pain or force.

Patrick is a certified force free dog trainer, certified fear free dog groomer, and a Certified Professional Animal Care Operator (CPACO).

Basic Requirements for Montessori School Mini Dog Days

  • Scheduled, All Day Behavior Assessment (Price: $110)
  • Age: 6 months – 12 years
  • Weight: 2 - 11 lbs
  • Vaccinations: Rabies; DHPP / DAPP; and Bordetella
  • All dogs Must be spayed/neutered
  • No poultry allergies (chicken or lean turkey heart) of any kind
  • No resource guarding
