Puppyhood does not last long, and it’s the most important development period in a dog’s life. While behavior issues can absolutely be corrected in adulthood, an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure!
Throughout a dog’s life they will constantly encounter new things, situations, and people. Our goal is to teach your puppy how to interact with their world by positively and safely introducing them to as many new things and people as you can while they are still in their puppyhood stage of development. You want to teach them that “new” doesn’t have to be scary. This way, when they do encounter that oddball experience, they are prepared, confident, and react positively.

Puppy Training & Consultations
We offer private puppy training and consultations as well as small group classes.
Puppy Socialization Visits/Walks
For puppies 8 weeks to 4 months who can't get through a full day without relief.
Puppy Head Start School
Focused on socialization, puppy manners, how to learn and play, potty training, and more. Class begins at age 8 weeks.
Puppy Training & Consultations
We offer one-on-one training and consultations with a force-free certified puppy specialist. We also offer small group classes for puppies and their people.
Puppy Socialization Walks/Visits
Your puppy deserves the very best. Our Puppy Socialization Walks/Visits are for puppies 8 weeks to 4 months who may not be fully vaccinated and can't get through a full day without relief.
Our Puppy Socialization Walks/Visits cover more than just the basics—we will safely socialize your puppy to all things "new" in the world using our fear- and force-free practices.
- 25-35 minutes long
- 1 hour service window between 10-11am and 3-4pm
- Staff who are certified in fear- and force-free puppy socialization
- Customizable to focus on your puppy’s particular needs and living situation
- We can perform tasks such as hand feeding, changing puppy pads, swapping out treats, refreshing their water, and cleaning up any accidents
- Enrichment games and activities
- We work on name recognition, harness desensitization, and leash manners, and practice coming and going to avoid separation anxiety
All of our Puppy Socialization Walks/Visits include direct & real time communication through our app and detailed reports with photos and/or videos.
Puppy Head Start School
Puppy Head Start is all about teaching dogs how to learn, play with others, be independent, and recognize that new things are good. We do this in a way that is purely positive and force free for each puppy.
Our Puppy Head Start classes are extremely small, based on individual attention, and focus on the mental, physical, and emotional needs of each puppy. We also set goals and create lesson plans for each puppy based on your lifestyle and future with the puppy.
We support you, the puppy parent(s). Getting a new puppy and integrating them successfully into your household is an enormous commitment and a lot of work. We’ll help you, support you, and serve as a resource throughout your journey.

Puppy Grooming
Patrick’s Pet Care is the only fear-free certified grooming team in Washington, DC. Our grooming team uses fear-free concepts to ensure that the grooming experience is as enjoyable as possible for every pet, every time. We take our time to meet the individual in front of us where she is to teach our guests to love the grooming table, clippers, the bathtub, the blow dryer, grooming shears, the groomer’s loop, and more.
With our fear-free puppy grooming services, it's our job to make sure your puppy has a positive, fear-free first grooming experience. Our fear-free certified groomers will slowly introduce your puppy to each stage of the grooming process and pair everything with praise and treats. The best part about working with young puppies is that we can make a positive association with each step of the grooming process and all of the grooming equipment from the very beginning!
